8th:
HALF DAY MUSCAT CITY TOUR
After breakfast, departure for a half-day tour of the city of Muscat. Our first visit will be the Royal Opera House and then we will head to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, which is a remarkable architectural achievement. As a place of contemporary worship it serves as a spiritual point of reference for modern Oman, projecting the values and aspirations of the people of Oman. As a building, it maintains a perfect balance between aesthetics, culture and ingrained Islamic tradition. After visiting the mosque we continue to Bait Al Zubair museum. Bait Al Zubair is itself a part of the Muscat heritage. Shiekh Al Zubair, who served three former sultans, founded the house in 1914 and his son Mohammad Al Zubair opened as a museum in 1998. It is carved doors opening into a fortress-style reception. The museum has the most beautiful and complete collections of antique Omani from all over the Sultanate. The Museum also includes traditional Omani weapons, jewelery, costumes, domestic utensils and recreated urban and rural environments. Then walk the scenic beauty of the corniche, stop at Matrah - the main port and shopping center, visit the fish market (being renovated) and explore the historic colorful souk. This is a real souk with winding alleys and alleys and stalls selling all sorts of textiles, jewelry, traditional Omani Scents (bukhoor - made of incense), souvenirs and antiques. Visit old Muscat, surrounded by steep mountains and flanked by twin 16th century forts' Jalali '&' Mirani ', see also Al Alam Palace, Residenza Sua Maestà il sultan Qaboos'. After the visit we will head back to the hotel.
